Ingredients:
- 1.25 lbs (567g) ground chicken
- 1 medium apple (Honeycrisp or Fuji preferred), peeled, cored, and finely diced
- 4 oz (113g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup (30g) panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 burger buns of your choice
- Optional Toppings: lettuce, tomato slices, red onion, mayonnaise, apple chutney
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, gently combine the ground chicken, diced apple, shredded cheddar, panko breadcrumbs, Dijon mustard, olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Be careful not to overmix.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Gently form each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Flatten slightly and make a small indentation in the center of each patty.
- Cover the patties with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat a griddle pan or skillet over medium heat. Lightly grease the pan. Cook the patties for 7-9 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns.
- Place each cooked burger on a bun and top with your desired toppings. Serve immediately.
