Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Thai tea mix (ChaTraMue or Pantai brand)
  • 2 cups filtered water
  • 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 2 tbsp sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tbsp evaporated milk
  • 2 cups large ice cubes

Instructions:

  1. Bring 2 cups of filtered water to a boil in a saucepan or kettle, then remove from heat. Immediately add the Thai tea mix, stir once to submerge the leaves, and cover with a lid. Steep for exactly 5 minutes.
  2. Strain the hot tea through a fine-mesh strainer or cloth tea sock into a heat-proof pitcher. Immediately whisk in the granulated sugar and sweetened condensed milk until fully dissolved and emulsified.
  3. Fill two tall glasses to the brim with large ice cubes. Pour the sweetened tea over the ice, leaving about an inch of space at the top. Gently pour 1 tablespoon of evaporated milk over each glass to create the signature ombre effect.
