Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup corn syrup
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and sugar.
  3. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add egg yolk and cold water; mix until dough forms.
  5. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to fit the pie dish.
  6. Transfer and press into the pie dish; chill in the refrigerator.
  7. In a large bowl, whisk together brown sugar, corn syrup, eggs, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
  8. Fold in chopped pecans.
  9. Pour the filling into the prepared crust, evenly distributing pecans.
  10. Place the pie on a baking sheet (to catch drips).
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the filling is set and slightly puffed.
  12. Allow the pie to cool at room temperature for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
