Ingredients:

  • 2 (21 ounce / 595g) cans cherry pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce / 432g) box yellow cake mix (do not prepare)
  • ¾ cup (1 ½ sticks / 170g) unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts), for topping (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Pour cherry pie filling evenly into the baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly over the cherry filling.
  4. Pour melted butter evenly over the cake mix. Aim for even coverage.
  5. (Optional) Sprinkle chopped nuts over the top.
  6. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.
