Ingredients:

  • 6 medium apples (approximately 2 lbs or 900g) – Granny Smith or Bramley recommended
  • ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (if you prefer a thicker filling)
  • 1 cup (130g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (100g) rolled oats
  • ½ cup (100g) light brown sugar
  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Mix until the apples are evenly coated.
  4. Transfer the apple mixture to the baking dish.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt.
  6. Add the cubed butter and, using a fork or pastry cutter, mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  7. Evenly sprinkle the crumble topping over the apple filling.
  8. Place in the oven and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  9. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
