Ingredients:
- 6 medium apples (approximately 2 lbs or 900g) – Granny Smith or Bramley recommended
- ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (if you prefer a thicker filling)
- 1 cup (130g) all-purpose flour
- ½ cup (100g) rolled oats
- ½ cup (100g) light brown sugar
- ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- ¼ tsp salt
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges.
- In a mixing bowl, combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Mix until the apples are evenly coated.
- Transfer the apple mixture to the baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt.
- Add the cubed butter and, using a fork or pastry cutter, mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Evenly sprinkle the crumble topping over the apple filling.
- Place in the oven and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
