Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lbs ripe heirloom tomatoes
  • 8 oz fresh buffalo mozzarella
  • 1 bunch fresh basil leaves
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp flaky sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Slice the heirloom tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella into uniform rounds approximately 1/4 inch thick. Pat the mozzarella dry with a paper towel to remove excess brine.
  2. On a wide serving platter, arrange the slices in an overlapping shingle pattern, alternating one slice of tomato, one slice of mozzarella, and one whole basil leaf.
  3. Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar evenly over the top of the arrangement.
  4. Sprinkle the flaky sea salt and cracked black pepper over the entire salad, ensuring salt hits the tomatoes directly.
