Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 g) baking soda
  • 6 tablespoons (85 g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup (240 ml) buttermilk, cold

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and baking soda until well combined.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients and use a pastry cutter or two forks to cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the cold buttermilk and stir gently until the dough just comes together without overmixing.
  5. Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown and slightly firm to the touch.
  7. Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before serving warm.
