Ingredients:
- 14 oz (400 g) extra-firm tofu
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil (or neutral oil)
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- ½ teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)
- 1 teaspoon sriracha or chili sauce (optional, for heat)
Instructions:
- Drain tofu and press it between paper towels or use a tofu press for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture.
- Cut pressed tofu into 1-inch (2.5 cm) cubes. In a bowl, toss tofu cubes with soy sauce and salt.
- Sprinkle cornstarch over tofu cubes and toss gently until evenly coated to ensure crispiness.
- Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.
- Lightly brush or spray the air fryer basket with oil. Place tofu cubes in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding. Cook for 12-15 minutes, shaking or turning cubes halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- While tofu cooks, whisk soy sauce, honey or maple syrup, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and sriracha (if using) in a small bowl.
- Once cooked, transfer tofu to a bowl and gently toss with the soy glaze until coated evenly.
- Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds if desired and serve hot as a snack, salad topping, or main dish component.
