Ingredients:
- 1.5 lbs ground beef (85/15 recommended)
- 1 large yellow onion, finely diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 large bell peppers, chopped into 1-inch pieces
- 28 oz crushed tomatoes
- 15 oz tomato sauce
- 4 cups beef bone broth
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 2 cups cooked white rice
Instructions:
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until it develops a deep crust. Add the diced onions halfway through and sauté until translucent. Drain excess grease.
- Transfer the beef and onion mixture to a 6-quart or larger slow cooker.
- Add the minced garlic, chopped bell peppers, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef bone broth, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, dried oregano, and smoked paprika to the pot.
- Stir ingredients well to combine. Cover and cook on High for 6 hours or Low for 8 hours until peppers are tender.
- Just before serving, stir in the pre-cooked white rice to heat through, ensuring the grains maintain their texture without becoming mushy.
