Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) fresh strawberries, washed and thoroughly dried
- 8 ounces (225g) semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional)
- Optional toppings: chopped nuts, sprinkles, shredded coconut, cocoa nibs
Instructions:
- Wash strawberries gently and dry completely. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- Combine chopped chocolate and coconut oil (if using) in a double boiler or heatproof bowl set over a simmering pot of water. Stir until melted and smooth.
- Hold a strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate, swirling to coat evenly. Allow excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
- Immediately sprinkle dipped strawberry with desired toppings while the chocolate is still wet.
- Place the dipped strawberries on the prepared baking sheet. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm.
- Serve chilled and enjoy the chocolate dipped strawberries!
