Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) fresh strawberries, washed and thoroughly dried
  • 8 ounces (225g) semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional)
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts, sprinkles, shredded coconut, cocoa nibs

Instructions:

  1. Wash strawberries gently and dry completely. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Combine chopped chocolate and coconut oil (if using) in a double boiler or heatproof bowl set over a simmering pot of water. Stir until melted and smooth.
  3. Hold a strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate, swirling to coat evenly. Allow excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
  4. Immediately sprinkle dipped strawberry with desired toppings while the chocolate is still wet.
  5. Place the dipped strawberries on the prepared baking sheet. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm.
  6. Serve chilled and enjoy the chocolate dipped strawberries!
