Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cups (150g) all-purpose flour (US) / plain flour (UK)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) (113g) unsalted butter, softened (US) / unsalted butter, softened (UK)
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar (US) / caster sugar (UK)
- 1/2 cup (110g) packed light brown sugar (US) / light brown sugar (UK)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips (US) / plain chocolate chips (UK)
Instructions:
- Spread flour in a thin, even layer on a baking sheet. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes, or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the temperature reaches 165°F to kill off bacteria. Let cool completely.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the vanilla extract and salt. Gradually add the milk, mixing until just combined.
- Gradually add the cooled, heat-treated flour to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips using a rubber spatula until evenly distributed.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the dough to firm up.
- Scoop and enjoy straight from the bowl!
