Ingredients:
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- ¾ cup (65g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp (10g) baking soda
- 1 tsp (6g) salt
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
- ½ cup (120ml) vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp (10ml) vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240ml) boiling water
- ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter
- ⅓ cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups (240g) powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp (45ml) whole milk
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your sheet pan and line it with parchment paper, leaving a small overhang on the sides.
- Whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Stir in the milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla until the batter is smooth. Finally, stir in the boiling water until combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake for 18-22 minutes until the edges slightly pull away and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- While the cake is still warm, melt the butter and whisk in cocoa, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to create the glaze. Pour the glaze over the warm cake.
