Ingredients:

  • 5 fl oz Dry Gin (London Dry style preferred)
  • 1 fl oz Lillet Blanc (or Cocchi Americano)
  • 75 fl oz Elderflower Liqueur (e.g., St-Germain)
  • 75 fl oz Freshly squeezed Grapefruit Juice
  • 25 fl oz Freshly squeezed Lemon Juice
  • Ice (sufficient to fill the shaker 2/3 full)
  • 1 strip Grapefruit peel or twist, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Glassware and Garnish: Chill the coupe or martini glass for at least 5 minutes. Using a peeler, cut a generous strip of grapefruit peel for the garnish, ensuring you avoid the bitter white pith. Set aside.
  2. Combine and Measure Ingredients: In the base of the cocktail shaker, accurately measure and pour the Gin, Lillet Blanc, Elderflower Liqueur, Grapefruit Juice, and Lemon Juice.
  3. Shake for Chill and Dilution: Fill the shaker two-thirds full with fresh, quality ice cubes. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for 12 to 15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is thoroughly frosted.
  4. Strain and Serve: Discard any chilling ice/water from the serving glass. Place a standard cocktail strainer over the shaker and pour the liquid through a fine mesh strainer (double strain) into the chilled coupe glass.
  5. Express and Garnish: Take the strip of grapefruit peel and twist or pinch it sharply over the glass to express the aromatic oils. Rub the rim of the glass gently with the peel before dropping it into the cocktail or placing it elegantly on the rim. Serve immediately.
