Ingredients:
- 3 Large Ripe Hass Avocados (approx. 600g)
- 1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt
- 1/4 cup Red Onion (40g), finely minced
- 1/3 cup Fresh Cilantro (15g), chopped
- 1 Small Jalapeño (15g), de-seeded and minced
- 2 tablespoons Fresh Lime Juice (30ml)
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cumin
Instructions:
- In a large non-reactive mixing bowl, combine the minced red onion, jalapeño, cilantro, salt, lime juice, and cumin.
- Stir the aromatics and let them sit for 2–3 minutes. This maceration process uses the lime juice to break down harsh sulfur compounds in the onion.
- Cut each avocado in half lengthwise, remove the pit, and score the flesh into a grid pattern.
- Scoop the avocado cubes into the bowl with the macerated flavor base.
- Use a sturdy dinner fork or potato masher to mash the avocados to your desired consistency, leaving some chunks for an artisanal texture.
- Fold the mixture together until the seasoned aromatics are evenly distributed and serve immediately.
