Ingredients:

  • 1 (16 ounce/450g) can refried beans
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (or to taste)
  • 3 ripe avocados, pitted and mashed
  • 1/4 cup finely diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 (16 ounce/450g) container sour cream
  • 1 packet (1 ounce/30g) taco seasoning mix
  • 1 (16 ounce/450g) jar salsa (your favourite heat level)
  • 2 cups (approximately 8 ounces/225g) shredded cheddar cheese, or a Mexican blend
  • 1 (2.25 ounce/65g) can sliced black olives, drained
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced

Instructions:

  1. Heat refried beans in a small pan or microwave. Mix with chili powder.
  2. In a bowl, mash the avocados. Add red onion, cilantro, lime juice, salt, and cumin. Mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine sour cream and taco seasoning mix. Stir until well combined.
  4. Layer the ingredients in the following order in your serving dish: refried beans, guacamole, sour cream mixture, salsa, cheese, olives, and green onions.
  5. Cover the dip with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavours to meld.
