Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 3 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Milk (Whole or Semi-Skimmed)
  • 1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 3 Tbsp All-Purpose Flour, spooned and levelled
  • 2 Tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
  • Pinch Fine Sea Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Chocolate Chips (Dark or Milk), optional

Instructions:

  1. Melt the Butter: Place the 2 Tbsp of butter directly into a microwave-safe mug (10-12 oz). Microwave on high for 15-20 seconds until fully melted.
  2. Whisk in Sugar and Liquid: Carefully add the granulated sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to the melted butter. Use a fork or whisk to combine thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and the sugar starts to dissolve.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients: Sprinkle the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt directly into the mug. Do not mix yet.
  4. Fold to Combine: Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using the fork. Mix only until just combined and no streaks of dry flour remain. Avoid over-mixing to ensure a fudgy texture.
  5. Stir in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips (if using).
  6. Microwave: Place the mug in the center of the microwave. Cook on high for 60 seconds. Check for doneness (edges should look set, center barely set). If the center is still very wet, microwave in 10-second increments up to 90 seconds total.
  7. Rest (Crucial Step): Remove the mug (it will be hot) and let the brownie sit undisturbed for at least 30 seconds to finish cooking and settle. This resting time is vital for achieving the desired fudgy texture.
  8. Serve: Add your desired toppings (like ice cream or caramel sauce) and enjoy immediately.
