Ingredients:
- 4 cups (960 ml) water
- 4 chai tea bags
- ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon (2 g) ground ginger
- ¼ teaspoon (1 g) ground cloves
- ¼ teaspoon (1 g) ground nutmeg
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced (about 3 cups)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice
- 1 cup (100 g) rolled oats
- ⅓ cup (75 g) brown sugar
- ½ cup (113 g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Boil water in a large pot.
- Add chai tea bags and steep for 10 minutes.
- Stir in sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg. Remove tea bags.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine diced apples and lemon juice, tossing to coat.
- In another bowl, mix oats, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and salt until crumbly.
- Spread the apple mixture in the bottom of the baking dish and top evenly with the oat mixture.
- Bake the apple crisp topping for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Ladle hot chai into cups and serve with a generous scoop of the apple crisp on top.
