Ingredients:

  • 4 cups (960 ml) water
  • 4 chai tea bags
  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon (2 g) ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon (1 g) ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon (1 g) ground nutmeg
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced (about 3 cups)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice
  • 1 cup (100 g) rolled oats
  • ⅓ cup (75 g) brown sugar
  • ½ cup (113 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Boil water in a large pot.
  2. Add chai tea bags and steep for 10 minutes.
  3. Stir in sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg. Remove tea bags.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine diced apples and lemon juice, tossing to coat.
  6. In another bowl, mix oats, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and salt until crumbly.
  7. Spread the apple mixture in the bottom of the baking dish and top evenly with the oat mixture.
  8. Bake the apple crisp topping for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Ladle hot chai into cups and serve with a generous scoop of the apple crisp on top.
