Ingredients:

  • 5 fl oz Vodka (high-quality standard or mild citrus)
  • 75 fl oz Orange Liqueur (Cointreau or premium Triple Sec)
  • 75 fl oz Fresh Lime Juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 75 fl oz Cranberry Juice (100% cranberry juice)
  • Ice (cubed)
  • 1 large strip Orange peel (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Chill the Glass: Place the empty serving glass (Martini or Coupe) in the freezer for at least five minutes, or fill it with ice water while preparing the cocktail. This ensures maximum chill.
  2. Prepare the Garnish: Using a vegetable peeler or paring knife, peel a strip of orange zest, ensuring minimal white pith is included. Set aside.
  3. Measure and Combine: Add the fresh lime juice, cranberry juice, orange liqueur, and vodka to the base of the cocktail shaker.
  4. Add the Ice: Fill the shaker two-thirds of the way full with fresh, cold ice cubes.
  5. Seal and Shake: Secure the shaker lid tightly. Shake the cocktail very vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds. Shake until condensation forms frost on the outside of the shaker.
  6. Discard Chilling Ice/Water: Empty the chilled glass of any pre-chilling ice or water.
  7. Strain: Place the Hawthorne strainer over the shaker. For a silky-smooth finish, strain the liquid through a fine-mesh sieve directly into the chilled glass (double-straining).
  8. Garnish: Take the prepared orange peel. Hold it over the glass and twist or pinch it firmly to express the fragrant oils onto the surface of the drink. Rub the rim of the glass with the peel, then serve immediately.
