- 1 cup (6 ounces / 170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Microwave Method
- Place chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Microwave on 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval.
- Continue microwaving and stirring until almost all the chocolate is melted.
- Stir until completely smooth. The residual heat will melt the last few bits of chocolate.

Double Boiler Method
- Fill a saucepan with about an inch of water. Bring to a simmer.
- Place the heatproof bowl with the chocolate chips on top of the saucepan, ensuring the bottom of the bowl doesn't touch the water.
- Stir frequently until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
- Remove the bowl from the saucepan.

Direct Heat Method
- Place chocolate chips in heavy bottomed sauce pan.
- On low heat, frequently stir the chocolate around to avoid burning.
- Remove the pan from the heat and continue to stir until all chocolate is melted.
