Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (6 ounces / 170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Microwave Method

    1. Place chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl.
    2. Microwave on 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval.
    3. Continue microwaving and stirring until almost all the chocolate is melted.
    4. Stir until completely smooth. The residual heat will melt the last few bits of chocolate.
  2. Double Boiler Method

    1. Fill a saucepan with about an inch of water. Bring to a simmer.
    2. Place the heatproof bowl with the chocolate chips on top of the saucepan, ensuring the bottom of the bowl doesn't touch the water.
    3. Stir frequently until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
    4. Remove the bowl from the saucepan.
  3. Direct Heat Method

    1. Place chocolate chips in heavy bottomed sauce pan.
    2. On low heat, frequently stir the chocolate around to avoid burning.
    3. Remove the pan from the heat and continue to stir until all chocolate is melted.
