- 4 quarts water
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Optional: 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Optional: Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Shuck the corn completely and remove as much silk as possible. Trim the ends of the corn to remove any blemishes.
- Fill a large pot with water. Add sugar and salt. Bring to a rolling boil over high heat.
- Gently lower the corn into the boiling water. Ensure the corn is completely submerged.
- Reduce the heat to medium, cover the pot, and simmer for 8-12 minutes, depending on the size and freshness of the corn. Test for doneness.
- Use tongs to remove the corn from the pot. Serve immediately with melted butter, salt, and pepper, if desired.
