Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground chicken
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped (about 1/2 cup)
  • 1 red bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (240 mL) barbecue sauce (preferably a sweet variety)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns, toasted
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh parsley or chives, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Heat skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and bell pepper. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened. Stir in minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Add ground chicken to the skillet. Break it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in barbecue sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until well incorporated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Remove from heat and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top. Cover the skillet with a lid for 1-2 minutes to allow cheese to melt.
  5. Spoon cheesy chicken mixture onto toasted buns. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives if desired.
