Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450 g) ground chicken
- 1 small onion, finely chopped (about 1/2 cup)
- 1 red bell pepper, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup (240 mL) barbecue sauce (preferably a sweet variety)
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 hamburger buns, toasted
- 1 cup (100 g) shredded cheddar cheese
- Fresh parsley or chives, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Heat skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and bell pepper. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened. Stir in minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add ground chicken to the skillet. Break it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in barbecue sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until well incorporated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top. Cover the skillet with a lid for 1-2 minutes to allow cheese to melt.
- Spoon cheesy chicken mixture onto toasted buns. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives if desired.
