Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) ground beef (80/20 blend is recommended)
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 4 hamburger buns (brioche or sesame)
- 4 slices of cheese (American or cheddar)
- ¼ cup (60g) mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Lettuce leaves (optional)
- Tomato slices (optional)
- Pickles (optional)
- Onion slices (optional)
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and mix well. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions (about 4 ounces each). Gently form each portion into a loose ball.
- Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Add a little oil if needed.
- Place the meatballs on the hot skillet. Using a spatula, press down to smash each patty flat (about ½ inch thick). Season with salt and pepper.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes until the edges are crispy and browned. Flip the burgers, add a slice of cheese, and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- While the burgers are cooking, toast the hamburger buns in a separate skillet or use the oven until golden brown.
- Spread the tasty sauce on the bottom bun, top with the smashed burger, and add any additional toppings you desire. Cap with the top bun.
- Serve immediately and enjoy while hot!
