Ingredients:

  • 4 medium cucumbers, thinly sliced (approx. 1 lb / 450 g)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (5 g)
  • ½ cup sour cream (120 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar (30 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (12 g)
  • ¼ cup fresh dill, finely chopped (60 ml)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper (1 g)
  • Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Additional fresh dill sprigs (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Wash cucumbers under cold water.
  2. Thinly slice cucumbers using a knife or mandoline.
  3. Place cucumber slices in a colander and sprinkle with salt. Let drain for 10 minutes.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together sour cream, vinegar, sugar, dill, and black pepper until smooth.
  5. Gently pat cucumbers dry with a paper towel.
  6. Add drained cucumbers to the dressing, stirring gently to combine.
  7. Cover the salad with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  8. Before serving, taste for seasoning and adjust if necessary. Garnish with extra dill or red pepper flakes if desired.
