Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheese (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  2. Whisk egg and warm water, then add to flour.
  3. Mix until dough forms; knead for 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  5. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  6. Sauté onion until translucent, then add garlic, cooking until fragrant.
  7. Stir in shredded chicken, spices, cheese, and seasoning; mix thoroughly.
  8. Divide rested dough into equal portions; roll into small circles.
  9. Place filling in the center of each circle, fold over, and crimp edges to seal.
  10. In a frying pan, heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  11. Fry panades until golden brown on all sides, about 4-5 minutes.
  12. Alternatively, bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden.
