Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 cup shredded cheese (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
- Whisk egg and warm water, then add to flour.
- Mix until dough forms; knead for 5 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Sauté onion until translucent, then add garlic, cooking until fragrant.
- Stir in shredded chicken, spices, cheese, and seasoning; mix thoroughly.
- Divide rested dough into equal portions; roll into small circles.
- Place filling in the center of each circle, fold over, and crimp edges to seal.
- In a frying pan, heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry panades until golden brown on all sides, about 4-5 minutes.
- Alternatively, bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden.
