Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 tsp (5 g) ground cumin
  • 1 tsp (5 g) smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp (5 g) garlic powder
  • 1 tsp (5 g) onion powder
  • ½ tsp (2 g) chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh lime juice, from 1 lime
  • 2 medium tomatoes, diced
  • ¼ red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced (optional)
  • ¼ cup (15 g) fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 1 avocado, sliced (optional)
  • Crumbled queso fresco or shredded cheese (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef with cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and salt. Squeeze lime juice over the mixture and mix well. Marinate for 30 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine diced tomatoes, onion, jalapeño (if using), cilantro, and lime juice. Season with salt to taste and set aside.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula (about 5-7 minutes).
  4. In a separate dry pan, warm tortillas over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side, until pliable.
  5. Spoon the beef mixture onto each tortilla. Top with fresh salsa and optional avocado and cheese.
  6. Serve immediately, garnished with extra cilantro if desired.
