Ingredients:
- 4 medium ripe tomatoes, diced (about 500g)
- 2-3 fresh chile serrano peppers, seeds removed and finely chopped (to taste; about 30-45g)
- 1 small red onion, finely chopped (about 100g)
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped (about 15g)
- Juice of 2 limes (about 60ml)
- Salt, to taste (start with 1/2 teaspoon)
- Optional: 1 garlic clove, minced (for added flavor)
Instructions:
- Wash and dice the tomatoes.
- Remove the stems and seeds from the chile serrano peppers, then finely chop.
- Finely chop the red onion and cilantro.
- Mince the garlic, if using.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped serrano peppers, onion, cilantro, lime juice, salt, and minced garlic (if using).
- Stir until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more salt or lime juice if necessary.
- Transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy immediately, or chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to meld the flavors.
