Ingredients:
- 1 box yellow cake mix (about 15.25 oz)
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 cups powdered sugar (icing sugar)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x13-inch pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, 1 large egg, and 1/2 cup melted butter. Mix until smooth and press the mixture evenly into the prepared pan to form the base layer.
- In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add 2 large eggs, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 1/4 cup melted butter; mix until fully incorporated. Gradually mix in the powdered sugar until the topping is smooth with no lumps.
- Pour the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cake base and bake for 35–40 minutes until the edges are set and slightly golden while the center remains gooey and slightly jiggly.
- Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool on a cooling rack for 1 hour before slicing into 12 squares and serving.
