Ingredients:

  • 3 lbs apples, peeled, cored, and chopped into 1-inch chunks
  • 1/2 cup water or unsweetened apple cider
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves

Instructions:

  1. Peel, core, and dice the apples into uniform 1 inch cubes. Place them directly into the slow cooker.
  2. Pour in the water (or cider) and the fresh lemon juice.
  3. Add the cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Note: Stir well so the spices don't clump on top
  4. Cover the pot with the lid.
  5. Set the slow cooker to Low for 4 hours. Note: You can use High for 2 hours if you're in a rush
  6. Cook 4 hours until the apples are mahogany colored and fall apart easily with a fork.
  7. For a rustic texture, mash the apples with a potato masher.
  8. For a velvety smooth texture, use an immersion blender directly in the pot until homogeneous.
  9. Remove from heat and let it cool for 15 minutes before jarring.
