Ingredients:
- 3 lbs apples, peeled, cored, and chopped into 1-inch chunks
- 1/2 cup water or unsweetened apple cider
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves
Instructions:
- Peel, core, and dice the apples into uniform 1 inch cubes. Place them directly into the slow cooker.
- Pour in the water (or cider) and the fresh lemon juice.
- Add the cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Note: Stir well so the spices don't clump on top
- Cover the pot with the lid.
- Set the slow cooker to Low for 4 hours. Note: You can use High for 2 hours if you're in a rush
- Cook 4 hours until the apples are mahogany colored and fall apart easily with a fork.
- For a rustic texture, mash the apples with a potato masher.
- For a velvety smooth texture, use an immersion blender directly in the pot until homogeneous.
- Remove from heat and let it cool for 15 minutes before jarring.
