Ingredients:
- ½ cup (120g) Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate)
- 3 tablespoons (45 ml) Water, filtered or tap
- ½ cup (120 ml) White Vinegar
- A few drops of essential oils (optional for fragrance - lemon, lavender, or tea tree are great!)
- Water (for steaming)
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, mix baking soda and water until a thick paste forms. Add essential oil for a fresh scent if desired.
- Wearing gloves, spread the paste evenly over all interior surfaces of the oven, avoiding heating elements and any vents. Be generous!
- Let the paste sit for at least 12 hours, or ideally overnight. This is where the magic happens.
- Lightly spritz the baking soda paste with white vinegar. This creates a fizzing action that helps lift the grime.
- Pour one cup of water in an oven-safe bowl. Put it in the oven. Set the oven temperature to 250℉(120℃) and bake for 45 minutes.
- Use a damp sponge or cloth to wipe away the baking soda paste. For stubborn areas, use a scraper or a bit more vinegar after waiting for it to cool.
- If necessary, spray the oven with water from a spray bottle to rinse away any remaining residue. Repeat the wiping process until the oven is clean.
- Dry the oven with a clean cloth.
