Ingredients:

  • 1 oz (30 ml) White Rum (I like a good quality one like Flor de Caña)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Aged Jamaican Rum (Appleton Estate is a solid choice)
  • ¾ oz (22 ml) Fresh Lime Juice
  • ½ oz (15 ml) Orange Curaçao (Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao is great if you can find it)
  • ½ oz (15 ml) Orgeat Syrup (Trader Vic's is readily available, or Monin if you're feeling fancy)
  • ¼ oz (7 ml) Simple Syrup (equal parts sugar and water, heated until dissolved, then cooled)
  • Garnish: Lime wedge, sprig of mint (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Fill a rocks glass with ice.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine the white rum, aged rum, lime juice, orange curaçao, orgeat syrup, and simple syrup.
  3. Add ice to the shaker and shake well until chilled (about 15-20 seconds).
  4. Strain the mixture into the prepared rocks glass.
  5. Garnish with a lime wedge and a sprig of mint (if desired). Serve immediately.
