Ingredients:

  • 2 slices sourdough bread (about ½ inch thick)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (28g)
  • 2 tablespoons Branston Pickle (30ml)
  • 4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated (115g)
  • 2 slices cooked ham (about 2 ounces total) (55g)
  • ¼ medium apple, thinly sliced

Instructions:

  1. Lightly butter one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
  2. Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, on a clean work surface.
  3. Evenly spread the Branston Pickle over the bread slice.
  4. Generously layer half of the grated cheddar cheese over the pickle.
  5. Arrange the ham slices evenly over the cheese, followed by the apple slices.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese over the apple slices.
  7. Place the second slice of bread on top, butter-side up.
  8. Toast in a sandwich press or skillet over medium heat, pressing down firmly, for 5-8 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted and gooey.
  9. Cut in half and serve immediately, preferably with a side of crisps (potato chips).
