Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lbs ripe tomatoes
  • 16 oz fresh mozzarella
  • 1 bunch fresh basil leaves
  • 3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp balsamic glaze
  • 1/2 tsp flaky sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp cracked black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Slice the tomatoes into 1/4-inch rounds, arrange them on a platter, and sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Let them sit for 10 minutes to release their juices.
  2. Cut the fresh mozzarella into rounds of similar thickness to the tomatoes.
  3. Gently pat the basil leaves dry with a paper towel.
  4. Create a shingle by placing a slice of mozzarella on top of a tomato slice, followed by a whole basil leaf.
  5. Repeat the tomato-mozzarella-basil sequence, overlapping the slices slightly in a circular or linear pattern.
  6. Slowly drizzle the extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze over the entire platter and finish with cracked black pepper.
