Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf Italian bread (about 12 inches long), sliced lengthwise
  • ½ cup (1 stick / 113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
  3. Spread the garlic butter evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  4. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the garlic butter, followed by the Parmesan cheese (if using).
  5. Place the bread on the baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bread is lightly golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then slice and serve immediately.
