Ingredients:

  • 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¼ cups (300ml) warm water (around 110°F/43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for greasing)
  • 1 can (15 oz / 425g) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (to balance acidity)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups (about 8 oz / 225g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Your choice of toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until foamy.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add yeast mixture and olive oil until combined.
  3. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth, then form into a ball.
  4. Oil a bowl and place the dough inside. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. In a pan, sauté minced garlic until golden. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper; simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). Grease the skillet with olive oil.
  7. Transfer the dough to the skillet, stretching it gently to reach the edges.
  8. Spread sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle with mozzarella and desired toppings.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
  10. Let cool slightly before slicing. Enjoy your homemade pan pizza!
