Ingredients:
- 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons of instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 ¼ cups (300ml) warm water (around 110°F/43°C)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for greasing)
- 1 can (15 oz / 425g) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon sugar (to balance acidity)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 cups (about 8 oz / 225g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- Your choice of toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, etc.)
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until foamy.
- In another bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add yeast mixture and olive oil until combined.
- Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth, then form into a ball.
- Oil a bowl and place the dough inside. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- In a pan, sauté minced garlic until golden. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper; simmer for 15 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). Grease the skillet with olive oil.
- Transfer the dough to the skillet, stretching it gently to reach the edges.
- Spread sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle with mozzarella and desired toppings.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
