  • 8 oz (225g) fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 1 cup (30g) fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) balsamic glaze
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: Edible flowers for garnish (e.g., nasturtiums, violets)

Instructions:

  1. Wash the tomatoes and basil leaves thoroughly.
  2. Slice the mozzarella into ¼-inch thick rounds.
  3. Arrange the tomato slices on a platter, alternating with mozzarella slices.
  4. Tuck fresh basil leaves between the layers.
  5. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze.
  6. Season with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
  7. Optionally, add edible flowers for color and a gourmet touch.
