Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) cooked crab meat, picked through for shells
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) finely chopped fresh dill
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) finely chopped celery
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) finely chopped red onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1g) salt, or to taste
  • 1/8 teaspoon (0.5g) black pepper, or to taste
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Gently flake the crab meat with your fingers, ensuring no shell fragments remain. Place in a medium mixing bowl.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, lemon juice, dill, celery, red onion, salt, pepper, and optional cayenne pepper.
  3. Pour the dressing over the crab meat. Gently fold the dressing into the crab meat until evenly coated. Avoid overmixing.
  4. For best flavor, cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Serve immediately or within 24 hours.
