Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (475 ml) Whole Milk
  • 1/4 cup (30 g) Dark Chocolate Chips (60-70% cacao), finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons (25 g) Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • Pinch of Chili Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) Tequila Reposado (optional)
  • Whipped Cream, for garnish (optional)
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium-low heat. Be careful not to boil.
  2. Once the milk is steaming (but not boiling!), reduce the heat to low. Add the chocolate chips, sugar, cinnamon, and chili powder.
  3. Whisk constantly until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy. Ensure no chocolate remains stuck to the bottom of the pan.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and tequila (if using).
  5. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs. Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings (if desired). Serve immediately.
